Benefits of iFusion for urology patients
The 8th Croatian Congress of Urology and the 3rd Uro-Oncology Forum were held in Šibenik from 23 to 26 October. MedExpert, one of Croatia's largest distributors of ultrasound systems, attended the event at the Amadria Park Convention Centre. The professional meeting combined the traditional national congress organised every four years by the Croatian Urological Society with the specialist Uro-Oncology Forum.

The Mindray Resona I9 offers some of the most advanced solutions in ultrasound diagnostics, including iFusion.
Mindray iFusion is an advanced fusion imaging function that combines and aligns live ultrasound with previously acquired images from other modalities, such as CT, MRI or an earlier ultrasound examination of the same patient.
In practice, the Mindray Resona I9 with iFusion improves diagnostic accuracy in urology by enabling comparison and precise localisation of lesions, cysts and tumours identified on CT or MRI. During biopsies or punctures, physicians can guide the needle precisely using a combined display of ultrasound and CT/MRI layers, improving the safety and success of the procedure.
For patients with chronic conditions, Resona I9 and iFusion allow changes between examinations to be followed visually, image by image, and enable prostate MRI to be aligned with real-time ultrasound. This provides more precise detection and localisation of prostate tumours.
The physician can see the exact position of an MRI-detected lesion on the screen and direct the biopsy needle precisely, which is particularly useful for PI-RADS 3-5 lesions.
Resona I9 also supports better evaluation of renal masses. By combining CT and ultrasound, iFusion helps distinguish solid from cystic lesions and shows their position, size and relationship to surrounding structures. During interventions, iFusion displays the needle path in relation to the CT or MRI image in real time, enabling precisely guided punctures, aspirations and testicular or renal biopsies with reduced risk to the patient.
iFusion can also be used to monitor therapeutic response in urological oncology patients, for example after radiofrequency ablation, partial nephrectomy or hormone therapy. Physicians can clearly assess changes in tumour volume, vascularisation and possible recurrence.
