ZONE Sonography® technology
ZONE Sonography Technology (ZST) represents a breakthrough in ultrasound imaging – a software-driven innovation that redefines how acoustic data is captured and transformed into crystal-clear images.
Unlike traditional systems limited by hardware, ZST uses large, flexible imaging “zones” to harness up to 90% more ultrasound data, delivering results up to 10x faster. The result? Sharper detail, smoother imaging, and a more efficient workflow.
Powered by patented high-speed digital processing and advanced software algorithms, ZST eliminates the slow, hardware-heavy limitations of conventional ultrasound, giving healthcare professionals the clarity and speed they need to make confident decisions. The transformation of ultrasound metrics from conventional beamforming to channel data-based processing delivers incredibly detailed and precise tissue visualization.
Living Technology
ZONE Sonography Technology (ZST) is more than innovation – it’s a Living Technology. Built on a powerful, software-driven foundation, ZST continuously evolves, delivering seamless upgrades that keep your ultrasound system at the forefront of performance and precision. With each enhancement, your system grows with you – ensuring long-term value, protecting your investment, and guaranteeing that your ZST-based platform remains at the cutting edge of imaging excellence throughout its entire lifecycle.
Key Advantages of ZONE Sonography Technology
Advanced Acoustic Acquisition
Collecting and processing large ZONE acoustic data sets through advanced software enables ultrasound image frames to be generated up to 10 times faster than conventional line-by-line beamforming methods.
The result: crystal-clear, real-time imaging with exceptional speed and accuracy in visualizing anatomical motion and hemodynamic conditions. This advanced data acquisition also minimizes tissue motion artifacts and ensures consistently outstanding image quality, even in simultaneous triplex mode. The unique power of this technology delivers superior imaging performance across all patient types and all ultrasound modes, raising diagnostic confidence in every clinical application.
A radical new approach.
Traditional beamforming creates each frame line by line (A). With ZONE imaging, frames are produced ten times faster using large-zone ultrasound energy (B).

Dynamic Pixel Focusing
Radically different from conventional imaging, Dynamic Pixel Focusing delivers outstanding spatial resolution and image uniformity, from the skin line to the deepest structures. By leveraging advanced software algorithms, each frame is built pixel by pixel, focusing every point on both transmission and reception. The result is an ultrasound image that is optimally focused at every depth, in every frame, at every moment. This breakthrough eliminates the need for operator-selected focal zones, ensuring a faster, more accurate diagnostic process across all clinical applications.
See the difference.
Sagittal scans of the liver clearly demonstrate the superior spatial and contrast resolution achieved with ZST (B), compared to traditional beamforming technology (A).

Sound Speed Compensation (SSC)
Traditional ultrasound assumes that sound travels through all human tissue at a constant speed of 1,540 m/s – an oversimplification that limits spatial and contrast resolution. In reality, every tissue has its own unique sound speed, and failing to adjust for these differences reduces image quality. That’s where Sound Speed Compensation (SSC) comes in. With the touch of a button, SSC automatically analyzes the tissue being examined and recalibrates the software to match its true acoustic properties. The result? Clearer, more precise images, especially when scanning diseased organs and structures at greater depths.
See the difference for yourself. Compare enhanced spatial resolution without Sound Speed Compensation (A) versus with Sound Speed Compensation (B).

Total Recall Imaging
With Total Recall Imaging (TRI), powered by ZST, you’re no longer limited to what you capture in the moment. Since ZST stores the entire raw acoustic data set, you can go back at any time to adjust imaging parameters, refine details, and unlock deeper clinical insights – all without rescanning the patient. The benefits are clear: no repeat scans – saving time for both clinicians and patients; optimized workflow – faster throughput, greater efficiency; sharper decisions – enhanced diagnostic confidence with every case. And TRI goes even further. By enabling export of in-phase quadrature (IQ) data, it opens the door to advanced imaging analysis and cutting-edge research – driving the future of tissue characterization and virtual histology.
