We participated in a two-day workshop Paradigms of Echocardiography in Dogs and Cats on June 10–11, 2025, at the Veterinary Station Osijek. In addition to standard ultrasound imaging techniques of the abdomen and heart muscle, the focus was on applying new paradigms of ultrasound diagnostics in dogs and cats.
Our colleague, Mr. sc. Tomislav Brajko, DVM, used the Mindray Vetus 7 ultrasound system during the workshop.
“Ultrasound is an important research tool, both in studies and in everyday practice, and it is key to significant progress in veterinary diagnostics. In addition to its diagnostic value in abdominal imaging, its ability to assess the overall cardiac structure with details of valves, myocardium, and particularly the pericardium makes it valuable in almost all forms of heart disease in dogs and cats. We can say that ultrasound has become an indispensable propedeutic method.
The advantages of ultrasound diagnostics include safety, as there is no radiation exposure; portability; excellent spatial and temporal resolution; real-time image processing and display; and relatively affordable cost. Clinicians who do not want or cannot adapt their work to include ultrasound significantly limit their possibilities,” emphasized Dr. Tomislav Brajko at the Osijek workshop.
The Mindray Vetus 7 ultrasound device is part of this manufacturer’s new series, combining wide applicability with advanced ultrasound technology.
